Kanarraville Creek Waterfall Trail leads to a small (15-foot) but spectacular waterfall that cascades down a sandstone lip fit snuggly between the walls of a gorgeous slot canyon. This incredible hike begins up behind the municipal water tank in the small town of Kanarraville, Utah. It is truly an awesome place to explore.
Take Hwy 15 from St. George about two-thirds the way to Cedar City, and get off at the Kanarraville exit. The frontage road takes you about 2 miles to the town. Once there, locate 100 North and follow it up to the water tank. You can park and walk from there, or move your vehicle carefully down the road to one of several very small parking areas.
The trail leading to the falls is obvious but not always easy to travel. For the most part, simple wading into the creek is the easiest way up to the falls. Sooner or later your shoes are going to get wet anyway! A half hour up the canyon by creek or trail is about all you need. The last 200 yards to the waterfall is stunning, so be prepared with your camera.
At the falls there is a make shift ladder nailed to a large tree stem that fell over the falls and is permanently lodged there. If you are very careful you can climb up and over the waterfall and continue upstream from there. If there is any sign of rain, do not go into the slot canyon!
