Washington County is Growing
The U. S. Census released data for Southern Utah last week. The Spectrum had quite a write up about it and I would like to share some of the highlights of that article with you.
There are definitely "signs of life" in Washington County. The overall population of the county grew from 90,354 to 138,115. The break down is as follows:
Washington County development director, Drew Ellerman stated, "In the past 18 months we've issued over 500 new building permits for homes. Most of these are not (on speculation)… but are pre-sold. Our inventory on foreclosed homes has gone down significantly over the last two years"…
Marc Mortensen, assistant to the St. George city planner said, "The (economic) downturn comes with mixed blessings. We're moving forward with infrastructure, yet we are not growing as fast as we were (2004~2006). It gives us a chance to catch up. …
It's a nice steady growth."
And the best news? With the population growth state-wide, Utah will finally get a long-sought fourth congressional seat.
On the very brightest side of Real Estate life, is the fact that the 2011 Parade of Homes was a huge success! Many offers were written on both vacant lots and existing homes. This was the most productive Parade of Homes that we have had in several years. It is an encouraging sign that our Real Estate market is on the mend and moving up.
Thank you all for your business and your dedication to encouraging growth in Washington County. Keep bringing your friends and relatives to the area, we will take great care of everyone!
